YORK City goalkeeper Michael Ingham and top scorer Richard Brodie were the prize guys when it came to the club’s Player of the Year awards.

Ingham won the Billy Fenton Clubman of the Year and the CPP Community Player of the Year, recognising his work off the pitch in the city.

Striker Brodie, meanwhile, was presented with the Keith Walwyn Golden Boot and the Players’ Player of the Year trophy on the pitch prior to Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Grays Athletic.

The delighted England ‘C’ international said afterwards: “It’s a massive honour for your team-mates to recognise what you do. I would not have scored the goals without the rest of the players, though, and I think a lot of them could have won the award.

“My choice as Players’ Player was Michael Ingham, but Luke Graham has been fantastic since he came to the club and James Meredith has had a brilliant season. Neil Barrett and Alex Lawless would also have been worthy winners, but I got it and I’m very proud of that.”

Brodie also leads The Press Player of the Year contest by four points from nearest rival David McGurk.
