YORK City winger Bryan Stewart has turned his back on football after rejecting a new contract.
The 20-year-old left-sided-player, who had risen to the first team through the youth ranks, yesterday left the club by mutual consent after failing to agree a new deal and is now set to carve out a career for himself away from the football industry.
City youth development director Steve Beck said: "We are sorry to see Bryan leave the club but wish him well for the future and his new career outside football."
Stewart becomes the third player of the close season to turn down offered contracts after Jamie Price and Darren Dunning both of whom have been snapped up by Conference North contenders Harrogate Town.
City fans are being asked to shell out up to £16 to watch their team tackle a Leeds United XI in a pre-season friendly on August 1.
Prices for all three of City's big testers have been released with £10 adults and £5 concessions the standard for the clash with Middlesbrough on Tuesday, July 25 at 7.45pm and the match against Darlington on Friday, July 28.
But those admission charges have been inflated for the Leeds match which comes just four days before the Whites kick off their Championship campaign.
Places in the David Longhurst stand will cost £13 adults and £8 concessions and the Pop Stand both pay on the turnstile only will carry a charge of £14 adults and £9 concessions.
The Family Stand will require parents to fork out £19 per adult and child combination with £14 for the adult alone, while the Main Stand and Enclosure will cost £16 standard with £10 for concessions.
Tickets for the Leeds game are now on sale for the family and main stands only.
Both the Darlington and Middlesbrough friendlies are pay on the gate only.
Four of York City's 2006-07 Conference league campaign fixtures have been altered.
Extra preparation time has been cited as the reason for bringing the Burton Albion game forward to a 7.45pm kick-off on Friday, August 25, with games booked in for Bank Holiday Monday.
England v Macedonia will take priority on Saturday, October 7, when the Minstermen will now kick off at 1pm against Aldershot.
The York City Family Day has been fixed to avoid a clash with the rugby league calendar but means the game at home to Altrincham will now take place on Bonfire Night day, Sunday, November 5, kick-off 3pm.
The Easter Monday game with Rushden & Diamonds has been put back to Tuesday, April 10 (7.45pm) to avoid the extra policing costs of the Bank Holiday.
