An unbeaten 103 by Matt Westwood powered Bolton Percy to a four-wicket win at Stillington to maintain their leadership of division three.

The bottom-placed side made a respectable 169 before being dismissed in 40.4 overs, with Karl Simpson making 44 and Rob Steele hitting 66.

Ali Rigby took 4-42 for Percy, whose batsmen staved off any threat posed by Adrian Leckonby’s 3-38.

Sessay had the better of a draw in a closely-fought encounter with Sheriff Hutton.

Luke Ramsey fell for 26 as the Hambleton side took first use of the pitch, then Darren Atkinson (78no) and Giles Cressey (39no) came together to lift the home total to 168-3. Ed Taylor replied with 58 and Joel Wilford made 37, but Sheriff’s reply closed on 157-7.

York III slipped from second to third when they came off second best in a high-scoring draw which saw Hovingham gain valuable points in their bid to avoid relegation on the eve of the official opening of their new pavilion.

Hovingham’s 236-7 included 49 from Richie Brown, 48 from Henry Scott and 35 by Paul Deverell. Richard Lindsay took 4-68 for the hosts.

Tim Lund (3-65) and Teei Piawi (3-43) made inroads into the home batting, but a splendid fourth-wicket stand of 136 between Kyle Waite (69) and Toby Cleminson (86) enabled York to earn a draw at 220-9.
