MICHAEL INGHAM’S Wembley shirt fetched £200 as the York City Supporters’ Trust Golf Day helped to raise more than £2,000 for York City Youth Development.
Current City stars Ingham and Alex Lawless lined up alongside supporters and past Minstermen legends. including Gordon Staniforth and Derek Hood. and former Manchester United and Scotland captain Martin Buchan at York’s Pike Hills Golf Club.
The day was won by the Yearsley Grove Golf Society, who hit a stableford score of 94. They gave their prizes, four golf bags, back to Pikes Hills to be given to young golfers.
Dale Banton received the straight drive prize, after his hooked tee shot ricocheted off a tree to find the line down the centre of the fairway, while the shot of the day prize was awarded to Martin Holmes, who eagled the first hole after driving onto the green.
Dave Carrington, of the Yearsley Grove Golf Society, also picked up the nearest the pin prize, while former Crewe Alexandra player Phil Bayliss grabbed the longest drive crown.
A presentation was also made to long-serving City stalwart Louise Jackson, who recently left Bootham Crescent, by former director Steve Beck. She received a standing ovation in the Pike Hills clubhouse.
Organiser Graham Bradbury said: “It was a brilliant day. The weather was kind and £2,300 was raised. It was absolutely superb.”
