SALES and marketing director Matt Fisher swapped his business suit for a Great Britain race shirt when he represented his country in a top triathlon in China.

Fisher, who works at York and Pocklington-based license management and software asset management company License Dashboard , took part in the 2011 Triathlon Age Group World Championships in Beijing earlier this month.

Having taken up the sport only last year, Fisher qualified for the GB team and joined fellow amateur athletes from all corners of the world for the sprint and Olympic-distance championships.

As an Olympic-distance athlete, Fisher swam 1,500 metres, cycled 40 kilometres and then ran ten kilometres – competing against 90 competitors from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and other nations.

Fisher said: “It was a real honour to represent Great Britain on the world stage. I love both the physical and mental challenges that triathlon brings and believe that the intense training also brings benefits to my business life.

“I was also very pleased to meet my target of finishing in the top half of my age group, a great achievement for my first world champs.”
