YORK City manager Gary Mills applauded an “immense” display by recalled centre-back Daniel Parslow during last night’s 0-0 home draw with Tamworth.
The Minstermen kept a third consecutive clean sheet with Parslow marshalling the back four in the absence of suspended skipper Chris Smith and crocked trio David McGurk, Chris Doig and Ben Gibson.
Mills added it was Parslow’s most impressive display under his stewardship and, while disappointed with his side’s attacking contribution in the first half, claimed the draw could represent a “big, big point” come the end of the season.
Mills said: “Dan Parslow was immense. He was heading the ball, passing, and talking, whilst his distribution to the wide men was great too. It’s the best I have seen him play since I came to the club and we have got another clean sheet.
“It’s no secret that, if we had kept more this season like Wrexham, we would be sitting higher in the table.”
On sharing the spoils with his former club, he added: “Nobody will make it easy for you.
“They went to Fleetwood and got a draw and have won at Cambridge. It’s a point and it could be a big, big one.
“We’re on 61 points and have so much to play for. We’re fourth and we are where we are because we deserve to be. Now we’ve got a Trophy semi-final against Luton to get to Wembley. How good is that?”
City lost top scorer Jason Walker early in the match due to a hamstring injury but Mills said: “I’m not sure about the extent of it so it will need to be assessed.”
Youth-team captain Tom Platt, made an immediate impact after joining Harrogate Town on loan.
The midfielder scored the first goal in Town’s 6-2 Blue Square Bet North win over Corby.
