FANCY holing a few putts alongside York City’s League Two stars?
Stalwart centre-back David McGurk is holding a golf day at Forest Park Golf Club, in Stockton-on-the-Forest, on August 29, as part of his benefit year and the club is looking for players to sign up as teams and individuals.
A host of Minstermen will be playing in the event, including Michael Ingham, Jason Walker, Matty Blair and Scott Kerr, while manager Gary Mills is also expected to be in attendance.
The competition will see four-man teams go into battle (best two scores counting), with entry for each team costing £160.
Individuals can enter for £40 and are likely to be paired with a team including one of York’s play-off and FA Trophy heroes.
The event is being sponsored by Michael Oglesby, of Ardent Finance, while any player who strikes a hole in one during the competition will win the use of an Audi TT for the weekend, courtesy of Audi of York.
Other prizes for winning teams include VIP hospitality for four people at Bootham Crescent during a League Two encounter and there will be the opportunity for players, and later supporters, to have their pictures taken with the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off trophy and the FA Trophy.
The event will include coffee and bacon sandwiches before the round and a meal as players come in off the course.
Tee times are from noon.
York supporters have been invited to join in the fun from 6pm, when they will have the opportunity to meet the players.
Mark Winterburn, professional at Forest Park, said: “It is brilliant to be given the opportunity to host this event. Hopefully, it will go very well.”
