ALL-ROUNDER Dave Johnson had a tremendous game to lead Dunnington to victory over reigning premier division champions Woodhouse Grange in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

In an important clash at Common Road, Johnson claimed 4-45 as Woodhouse set a target of 220-8.

Nick Hadfield (48), Mike Burdett (62), Chris Bilton (45) and Steve Burdett (25) contributed to Grange’s tally.

Johnson then showed his class by hitting an unbeaten 133 to dominate Dunnington’s successful reply, which saw them reach 221-7 despite Tom Quinn’s 3-61.

Clifton Alliance maintained their four-point lead over Dunnington by beating fourth-placed Sessay by five wickets with 16 balls to spare.

Mark Wilkie made 48, John Flintoff 27 and Chris Till 46 in Sessay’s 203-7, while Alex Renton claimed 4-61 in 18 overs of spin.

Joel Hughes then led Clifton’s reply with 82, while there was good support by Adam Slater (47) and skipper John Gilham (38).

Acomb slipped into the relegation zone when they lost at Beverley, who used up four wickets in overtaking Acomb’s 219-8.

Andy Tute top-scored with 65 while runs also came from the bats of Scott Nicholls (36), Neil Grant (46) and Paul Hemingway (28).

Peter Parnaby, with 3-47, and Steve Blake, who took 3-31, were the pick of the home bowlers.

Beverley’s batting stars were Ian Gilyon (79), John Fisher (71) and Andy Burton (29).

Easingwold’s Martin Piercy made 67 and Jonathon Marwood 33 as their side totalled 223-8 against Stamford Bridge, for whom Ollie Pimlott took 5-43 and Martin Veysey 3-49.

Andy Fraser led Bridge’s reply with an unbeaten 70, while Danny Hagan (33) and Dave Bradshaw (27) supported.

Despite the trio’s efforts, Stamford were only able to make 203-7 in a drawn game.

Elsewhere, Goole Town beat Studley Royal by seven wickets after restricting Royal to 151-8.

Thirsk suffered an eight-wicket defeat by Fenner after totalling 218-5, largely thanks to Ben England’s 83 not out and Ryan McKendry’s 64.
