TADCASTER Albion’s title ambitions were dented by a 3-1 defeat at home to Northern Counties East League division one title rivals Brighouse.

Goals from Lee Burgess, Danny Toronczak and Wayne Crossley left Albion with a mountain to climb and they could only muster a last-minute goal from Darren Brandon.

The loss leaves Albion second in the table, three points behind Brighouse with two games in hand.

A last-minute Liam Salt goal earned Pickering Town a 3-2 victory at Parkgate in the premier division.

Salt’s goal sealed a superb comeback from the visitors, who trailed 2-0 on 48 minutes after Jamie Jones’ double strike.

Chris Batchelor started the fight back on 66 minutes and Danny Gray levelled with nine minutes to go before Salt struck.

Seventh-placed Pickering travel to Thackley tomorrow (7.45pm).

Title-chasing Armthorpe Welfare beat Selby Town 3-0, with all the goals coming in the closing 19 minutes.

Selby entertain Arnold Town tomorrow before hosting Thackley on Thursday (both 7.45pm).

Scarborough Athletic are fifth in the table following their 6-0 win over Shirebrook Town.

Basement side Harrogate Town stumbled to a 5-2 defeat against Blyth Spartans in Blue Square North at Wetherby Road.

The bulk of the damage was done in the first half as Town trailed 4-1 – despite Lee Ellington cancelling out a fourth-minute opener from the visitors.

Dave Syers was the second Town scorer on 48 minutes, but Blyth netted a fifth with 15 minutes remaining.

Town tackle Corby Town at home tomorrow.

A second-half goal from Mark Houghton consigned Harrogate Railway Athletic to a 1-0 defeat by Skelmersdale. Railway travel to Warrington tomorrow (7.45pm).
