Despite the sterling efforts of club and players, Riccall’s hosting of their Minster Engineering Football League premier division fixture was not rewarded.
Visitors Copmanthorpe posted a 2-1 triumph in the only Minster League game to beat the freeze on Saturday.
The hosts laboured to adapt to the conditions in the first half and Robin Bedford’s 11th league goal of the season gave Copmanthorpe an early lead.
A minute into stoppage time before the interval, Riccall conceded a penalty which was converted by Alex McCrae.
Though Chris Harkin pulled a goal back for Riccall in the second half, Copmanthorpe held on to go into fourth spot in the top-flight.
All other games were postponed as was the entire York Sunday Morning League (sponsored by Ian’s Cars of Barlby) programme.
All teams are to still keep to the fixture list of Sunday, November 28, for this coming Sunday’s schedule.
