YORK-BASED footballers have scored a festive treat by earning a rare opportunity to play at Bootham Crescent.
For the first time in many years York City’s home will play host to a representative challenge match between a York Minster Engineering Football League side and opponents City of Leeds Old Boys on Tuesday.
Said Minster Engineering League chairman John Jeffery: “We are delighted that York City have agreed to stage this game at Bootham Crescent.
“It will make a lot of lads’ dreams come true to be able to play there.”
Jeffery added the league would be having a collection at the game, which kicks off at 7.30pm, with cash going to City’s youth development team.
