TADCASTER Albion hit back from 2-0 down to take a point from their trip to Brighouse Town in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

The Brewers slipped a place to third in the table after Staveley Miners Welfare’s 2-0 win at Selby Town, but it could have worse for Paul Marshall’s men.

Brighouse led at half-time through James Sutcliffe’s 40th-minute goal.

Danny Nadiole made it 2-0 seven minutes after the break, but Steve Jeff started Albion’s revival on 58 minutes.

The visitors drew level seven minutes later when former York City junior Nick Thompson struck.

Pickering Town suffered their first defeat since manager Jimmy Reid returned to the club as they went down 3-1 at Scarborough Athletic.

Ryan Blott opened the hosts’ account on four minutes and, despite an equaliser from David Hartas two minutes later, Athletic led again at half-time thanks to Adam Lee’s 35th-minute goal.

Blott added the third from the penalty spot 15 minutes from time.

Selby’s 2-0 loss at home to Staveley means they remain five points adrift at the foot of the table.

Ryan Damms put the Flaxley Road visitors ahead from the penalty spot five minutes before half-time and Simon Barraclough added the second on 55 minutes.

The Robins take a break from league action when they travel to Nostell tomorrow (7.45pm) in round three of the League Cup.

Harrogate Town eventually edged past hosts Bishop’s Stortford 4-3 after a ding dong Blue Square Bet North fixture.

An own goal from Alli Abdullahi gave Town a 19th-minute lead, but Reece Prestedge levelled for the home side eight minutes later.

Former York City striker Paul Brayson nudged the visitors ahead again on 35 minutes, but it was 2-2 at half-time thanks to Dwight Gayle’s penalty on 45 minutes.

Jonny Allan’s 67th-minute strike again gave Simon Weaver’s side the advantage on 67 minutes, but Gayle hauled Bishop’s Stortford level within two minutes.

Harrogate finally broke the hosts’ resistance, however, when Allan netted his second with 17 minutes remaining.

Town travel to Guiseley tomorrow (7.45pm).

Leaders Fylde trounced visitors Harrogate Railway Athletic 7-0 in Evo-Stik League division one north.

Mike Barnes netted a hat-trick for Fylde to add to goals from Joe Booth (2), Brad Barnes and Keigan Parker.
