YORK-BASED defender Sam Byram is on course to complete an ever-present first campaign with Leeds United.
The highly-rated Elland Road academy product modestly described his debut season as “all right” ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Birmingham in the npower Championship.
Byram, who has made 49 starts and three substitute appearances, scoring four goals, said: “On a personal note, I’m always learning and I’ve made mistakes and things, but I think I’ve done all right to say that it is my first season.
“Hopefully I can keep learning and keep playing well.”
He added: “All the older players said that it goes really fast. At first I didn’t believe them but to look back to the start of the season it has gone really quickly.”
Byram, a former York & District Schoolboys player, is keen for United to kick on and achieve promotion to the Premier League next season under new boss Brian McDermott.
“I’ve been here since I was nine or ten,” he said. “I think the fans really deserve to be back at the top.”
