LEEDS United’s comprehensive Carling Cup win should give the Whites confidence as they prepare for another tough npower Championship match on Sunday.
After an opening day 2-1 defeat to Derby County at Elland Road, manager Simon Grayson, pictured, will not want to lose further ground even at this early stage of the league campaign.
But it doesn’t get any easier for his men, with a trip to Nottingham Forest – who finished third last season – to contend with.
United’s reward for a 4-0 win over League Two Lincoln City on Tuesday night was a second round Carling Cup match up against league rivals Leicester City.
Leeds were three up inside the opening half-hour and Grayson said he used the second period to prepare for Sunday’s match.
“The third goal killed the game off, but we had to use the second half as preparation for Sunday’s game at Forest by being hard to beat, keeping the ball, and breaking quickly,” he said.
“The players responded in a good manner.”
