MAXIMUM impact could well be sought by Leeds United manager Simon Grayson to try to down his former club.

Grayson’s Leeds United entertain Leicester City in the Carling Cup second round tonight with the hosts eager to get the better of their Championship rivals.

Grayson spent the bulk of his playing days at Leicester so will be eager to see off the Foxes to bag a place in the lucrative third round stages.

And with several of his charges nursing bumps and scrapes after their start to the campaign, Grayson may turn to another former Leicester player, Max Gradel.

After a flare-up in last season’s final League game of the season Gradel was dealt a four-match ban.

That has now ended and the fiesty forward will be eager to play and make a rapid contribution much in the way of fellow front-man Davide Somma.

He returned from his own three-match suspension to rattle in a brace of goals in Saturday’s 3-1 mauling of Millwall.

Said Grayson: “Max has been a bit like Davide. He is itching to play.

“Davide has reaped the rewards and hopefully Max will too when he comes back into the team.”

Grayson wants to keep changes at a minimum as he is determined to keep Leeds’ interest in the Carling Cup going as long as possible.

“I want to win games because winning breeds confidence,” declared the Leeds boss.
