LEEDS United had a late goal ruled out for offside as they drew 0-0 with Doncaster Rovers in the npower Championship at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 74th minute when Rovers ’keeper Neil Sullivan failed to hold Brad Johnson’s shot.

Davide Somma followed up and put the rebound into the net, but an assistant referee’s flag had already been raised.

That was the best chance of a hard-fought Yorkshire derby as a much-changed Leeds team looked much tighter than in their 5-2 defeat at Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Manager Simon Grayson shuffled his side, bringing in debutant Ross McCormack, Somma and Aidy White, and demanded an improvement on the Oakwell debacle.

Prior to his offside strike, Somma had rattled the Rovers bar in the 22nd minute, while Dean Shiels hit an upright for the home side.

With five minutes remaining, Sullivan had to be alert to keep out a deflection off a defender after a wayward Johnson shot from the edge of the Rovers box.
