A CONTROVERSIAL equaliser thwarted Leeds United’s push for a victory at Norwich City in the npower Championship.

The Whites led through Max Gradel’s 13th minute goal at Carrow Road, but the visitors were denied all three points when Leon Barnett levelled with 25 minutes remaining.

Barnett scored with a header from a David Fox corner, but United’s players claimed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was fouled as the ball was delivered.

Gradel’s opener came when referee Mick Russell played advantage after Luciano Becchio had been felled on the edge of the box by Barnett.

Meanwhile, United midfielder Adam Clayton, 21, has joined Peterborough on loan for a month.
