FORGET the FA Cup and the imminent visit of Premier League title-chasers Arsenal.

That will be the rallying cry to Leeds United’s over-achievers from manager Simon Grayson.

Before the mouth-watering third round replay at Elland Road against the top-flight titans from North London in front of live television next Wednesday, United welcome Yorkshire neighbours Scunthorpe in the npower Championship tomorrow.

While the dramatic spot-kick share-all at the Emirates was hailed as a superb achievement – even by many neutrals – Leeds’ league form over the past month leading up to that cup duel was hardly earth-shattering.

A 12-match undefeated run was ended by a dispiriting defeat to fellow promotion-hunters Cardiff, but to Grayson’s dismay even more vital points had been lost to a flurry of draws.

Grayson, who won his first manager of the month prize when he picked up the award for December in which Leeds were unbeaten with three wins and two draws in five npower Championship outings, will stress how vital it is to get back on the winning path in the league at the expense of Scunthorpe.

Grayson, who said of his manager of the month gong that it was “a testament” to how hard everyone worked at the club, will also be hoping there is a healthy omen ahead of The Iron’s visit tomorrow.

This week’s reserve match saw a strong Leeds side topple visiting Scunthorpe 3-0 with goals from Davide Somma, Mike Grella – now back from a loan stint at Carlisle – and Lewis Turner.

One of the dangers Leeds will have to watch is former York City striker Martyn Woolford, pictured in action.

Given a free role in The Iron attack, Woolford currently tops the Glanford Park club’s scoring charts this season with eight goals and is attracting keen interest from several clubs, including a rumoured £400,000-plus bid from Nottingham Forest.

• Leeds this week welcomed back central defender Paddy Kisnorbo to training after his nine-months absence recovering from an Achilles injury.

And manager Grayson was delighted to have the gritty sentinel back.

He said: “He’s a big character to have around the place.”

The club have also agreed that on-trial Honduras striker Ramon Nunez will remain at Elland Road until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who has featured in just two substitute appearances for the senior ranks, is currently with the Honduran national team training for Copa America ties against Costa Rica and Guatemala.
