TEE-LINE titan Simon Dyson has spurned one V to sharpen up for another V for victory assault.

The 32-year-old York-born golfer opted to miss the Castello Masters starting tomorrow in the ancient Spanish city of Valencia so that he can be refreshed for the lucrative swansong to the 2010 campaign.

Enjoying a brief rest in Spain, to where he was jetting out tomorrow, Dyson will spend the week ahead in practice for his resumption of the European Tour at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters at the famous Sotogrande course in Valderrama starting on Thursday, October 28.

That tournament is the last of the current European Tour events played on mainland Europe.

After that, the big-money action switches to the Orient for the the last of the four HSBC World Golf Championship tournaments at Shenshan International course in China’s Shanghai in the first week of November, followed by the Singapore and Hong Kong Opens.

From there it’s a flight to the Middle East. The Hong Kong championship ends the Race to Dubai as the Tour’s top 64 players head for the Jumeriah course for the $7½ million Dubai World Championships – the European Tour’s final event of the year.

Due to the crammed nature of the last six weeks, Malton & Norton GC ace Dyson opted to take a short break, hence his absence from tomorrow’s Castello Masters.

“I just want to work on a few things and have a little rest ahead of what is going to be a busy finish to the year,” said Dyson, who will be based at a new property he has bought not too far from Valderrama.

“My form has been very good of late and I had chances for even better finishes than I enjoyed at the Alfred Dunhill Links and in last week’s Portugal Masters. I’m hitting the ball very well, so we’ll see where we go from there.”

Meanwhile, Harrogate GC’s John Parry, who finished tied for 17th alongside Dyson in Vilamoura last week, will aim to maintain his good form going into tomorrow’s Castello Masters.
