York Lokomotive ARLC will begin training on March 17 at their York RI home ahead of the new summer season.

The Lokos will again be competing in the Yorkshire premier division of the Rugby League Conference, with former York RL star Paul McDermott still at the coaching helm, assisted by Mick Calam.

The league starts on May 1, with the teams in their league this year being East Leeds, Milford, Thorne-Moorends, Haworth Park, Rotherham and Scarborough.

The Lokos are holding a sportsman’s dinner at the Park Inn Hotel, on North Street, York, on Sunday March 28, meeting at noon for a 1pm start.

Super League referee Steve Ganson will be the guest speaker, with Steve Womack, from Doncaster, the comedian and Dave Kendall the master of ceremonies. Tickets are priced at £30 each, of which £5 goes towards the raffle.

Last year’s dinner was attended by 174 people and early signs suggest this event will be even busier. Tickets are available from Andy Starkey on 07723 373259 or Alistair Cole on 07966 119690.
