New Earswick All Blacks ARLC will look to improve on overall performance when face Westgate Wolves in the Pennine League championship on Saturday.
Westgate were originally at home but their clubhouse is not available so the match has been switched to White Rose Avenue (2.30pm).
Victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat at home to Ossett Trinity in last week’s opener, while Westgate were well beaten 48-8 by Dewsbury Moor.
All Blacks at times struggled in their 20-18 win but hard work paid off in the end. Coach Simon Baynes may be forced to make changes as some players are not available due to holidays but he will name his team at training tonight Thursday.
Selby Warriors, still buoyant after promotion to division two, will expect a tougher game at Wyke (2.30pm) than they got in their opener at home to Sharlston Rovers ‘A’, which ended in a 60-4 rout.
Tries that day came from winger David Makin (2), Wayne Fennell (3), teenager Ben Harris, who is back from Featherstone Rovers scholarship during their off-season, debutant and man-of-the-match Kyle Jarret Scott Pearson, veteran prop Jon Broadhurst (2) and Ryan Eades, scrum-half Gavyn Lightowler adding eight conversions.
Selby Warriors ‘A’ start off their division seven campaign at home to Rodley Rockets (2.30pm).
