Former York City Knights target Kyle Wood has joined the Knights’ Championship rivals Sheffield Eagles.

Half-back Wood, who was pursued by Paul March during his eventful spell as coach at the Huntington Stadium club, was recruited to the Eagles squad as part of a double swoop for the 2011 campaign.

Also joining him at the Sheffield club was centre or back row forward James Cording. Both have joined on dual registrations from Huddersfield.

The 21-year-old Wood joined the Giants from Sheffield 12 months ago on a three-year contract but has yet to play in Super League for them, although he did make five appearances on loan to Castleford in 2010.

It was while at Castleford that his form alerted the Knights then under the command of March.

Cording, who will turn 21 at the end of the month, was in Castleford’s squad in 2009 but spent much of the season on loan at Gateshead Thunder and joined Huddersfield a year ago.

Expected to start training with the Eagles this week, they could debut in the Northern Rail Cup group games in February.
