FORMER York City Knights flier Tom Lineham will be back at Huntington Stadium tomorrow (6pm) as part of Hull’s line-up – and the Championship club have not ruled out a longer return at some point this year.

The 20-year-old winger, who has twice finished third in a rugby league sprint challenge, joined the Airlie Birds from York last summer hoping to win a Super League contract.

He has been retained by the Black and Whites this year but, with the Knights in talks about a possible dual-registration link-up with the KC Stadium club, he could be one of the players made available on dual-reg forms.

Knights general manager Ian Wilson said: “There’s nothing on the table at present but we’d never say never.”

Lineham, a former York RUFC and Yorkshire county junior in the 15-a-side code, switched to rugby league while at York College in 2008.

After quickly coming to the Knights’ attention, he made his debut for the then Championship One club in July, 2009, aged 17 years 301 days – then the club’s youngest-ever player.

He scored 11 tries in 20 appearances before missing the start of the 2011 season due a knee reconstruction. The move to Hull had already been lined up and the switch came when he regained fitness.

As reported by The Press, Jamie Ellis, the Championship Player of the Year with Leigh last term, will make his Hull bow in tomorrow’s friendly alongside exciting youngster Danny Nicklas in a predominantly under-20s squad.

England Academy star Reece Lynne, who has 13 Super League appearances to his name, is set to start at full-back, with highly-rated pair Jack Briscoe, younger brother of England star Tom, and Ben Crooks, son of former York Wasps head coach and Great Britain prop Lee, forming a talented centre partnership.

Former Hull and Bradford star Lee Radford, an ex-team-mate of Knights player-boss Chris Thorman at the KC Stadium, will be making his bow as Hull U20s coach after being added to the backroom staff upon hanging up his boots in the autumn.

Thorman said: “Hull have a very deep first-team squad with a huge amount of ability. I expect this to be a very tough game which is exactly what we need at this time of year. From speaking to Lee, I know they have some very exciting players coming through who will be knocking on the door of the first team this season.”

The game kicks off at 6pm tomorrow and not as published in The Press yesterday. Turnstiles open at 4pm.

There will be a curtain-raiser between the Great Britain All Stars and Horners ARLC from Hull. This match kicks off at 4.15pm and is in aid of the Life for a Kid Foundation.
