PRIVATELY-owned property development company S Harrison has been trading successfully from its Yorkshire base since 1952.
The firm which is nominated for Large Business of the Year award specialise in bringing together land or property owners with those who need designed, engineered space to develop their own enterprises.
They say: “With imagination, integrity and a wealth of experience, we enable land or property owners to realise the optimum value from their assets and we provide the platform for wealth-generating businesses or social enterprises to help Yorkshire thrive.”
Despite the economic challenges facing businesses, 2018 was the most profitable ever in its 66-year history.
That success has provided an excellent basis for future growth and the scope to make broader contributions to the communities in which it works.
Explaining its approach, the firm says: “The very real contribution made by developers to the community is often misunderstood.
"Developers are the driving force behind business growth.
"It is developers who identify the potential, take the risks, source the funding and bring together the skills to provide the spaces needed to facilitate business growth.
"Good developers do that always with the interests of the community at heart.
“Harrison represents and encapsulates what is good about the Yorkshire business ethos.
"Without fuss, without self-aggrandisement, we quietly, efficiently, cost-effectively go about delivering schemes that meet real needs and deliver real benefits to the communities in which they are based.
"We work collaboratively, bringing together like-minded, more often than not, Yorkshire businesses and professionals who share our commitment to excellence and to doing business with integrity.
“We are in it for the long term.
"We deliver on the promises we make; we are honest, up front and realistic in the schemes we bring forward, and it is on that basis that the people with whom we work come back to us repeatedly.”
It adds: “We reflect all that is good about the Yorkshire business community. Brimming with ideas and with an excellent blend of expertise and willingness to engage with like-minded partners, we consistently deliver the kind of quality-built environment - homes, student accommodation, retail and industrial spaces, offices and hotels, which help drive the economic, social and cultural vibrancy of the communities we serve.”
