TORQUE Law were recognised as New Business of the Year at The Press Business Awards 2018 and have since grown in size and reputation.
Headed by Tiggy Clifford and Emma Whiting, they are now firmly established as a leading niche law firm in the city and are contenders for Small Business and Socially Responsible Business of the Year.
Now boasting seven staff members, the last year has seen a 25 per cent increase in turnover and profit, the firm has worked with more than 150 new clients, and negotiated exit arrangements packages in excess of £5.5m.
In the last 12 months, the team has secured work from prominent local employers including Yorwaste, Autohorn, Karro Foods and Audit Partnership. They have also added national corporates British American Tobacco plc and Mereo BioPharma plc to their list.
The firm remains committed to the community, sponsoring events and publications and offering discounted rates to charitable and not-for-profit clients.
In response to a threefold increase in the number of children in York being diagnosed with autism through the NHS, Torque Law launched a campaign this year to promote the business benefits of recruiting and nurturing a more neurodiverse workforce. Specifically targeted at forward-thinking and inclusive York-based businesses, the team has delivered training to over 200 people and local businesses so far, on the positive difference that individuals with conditions such as autism, ADHD and dyspraxia can bring to the workplace.
