ONE time, in her early 20s, Lauren Heslop of Escrick was in showbiz working behind the scenes as a researcher for some of the UK’s most popular soaps and television dramas, rubbing shoulders with the likes of David Jason, James Corden and Bruce Forsythe.
But after six years of attending extravagant parties, wining and dining with the glitterati and working long hours, the lifestyle was beginning to take its toll.
So she left the business, got a new job – but was made redundant. She took the money and ran – all the way to India. And that is where she trained in massage and yoga instruction, giving her a yearned-for spiritual awakening and determination to share it once she returned home.
Now she runs Lu Lu Lime yoga at cottage retreats in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and is doing so well she has pitched for both the Women In Enterprise and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year titles in The Press Business Awards.
She said: “Classes are conducted in the traditional hatha-style, taking influence from Sivananda, Astanga and Vinyasa Flow practices.
“I feel honoured to be able to teach yoga. It’s a constant learning curve, both from my own practice and students.”
Lauren’s next yoga weekend will be in a converted barn at Kilnsey, Grassingham, between July 9 and 11. There guests will eat organic vegetarian food, practice yoga, have time to reflect and receive a free aromatherapy massage. Price for this retreat? £195.
