Ex-broadcaster Sharon Cain seems effortlessly to attract awards.

The accolades keep pouring in, not just for her six-person Harrogate firm, Quest PR, but also personally.

Hers is the only UK company to have won the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Best Small Team for three consecutive years (2004 to 2007). These were among its eight industry and business awards including one last year for Quest’s extensive pro-bono campaigns.

Quest also won the Small Business Of The Year title in The Press Business Awards 2005, and only last month Sharon was an applauded finalist among high-profile women, including entrepreneur Deidre Bounds in this year’s prestigious Sue Ryder Care Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards.

Now Sharon has been entered in the Women In Enterprise category of The Press Business Awards 2010 and with her history it is hardly surprising.

Her postgraduate diploma in radio journalism launched her career from a news presenter on a small radio station as a BBC producer, working with the likes of Chris Evans and Johnnie Walker.

She was an on-screen reporter for Sky TV, covering high-profile stories like IRA bombing campaigns and interviews with film stars and politicians.

Then in April 2001 she launched Quest PR full time from an annexe office. Today the company has its own showcase offices with dedicated training facilities in Cardale Park.

Sharon’s advocacy of encouraging women to overcome self-limiting beliefs is well known. She was key in launching the first pro-bono FEE (Female Emerging Entrepreneurs) development group and in 2007 was invited to be a Yorkshire Forward Female Ambassador.

Last December she was invited to become a member of The Two Per Cent Club which unites like-minded women to share ideas and shape the business agenda.

Quite apart from all her free work for charity, she takes part in charity cycling events and running marathons.
