TELE-PRODUCTS, a business venture started in managing director Seggy Segeran’s spare bedroom more than 20 years ago, is keeping up with the times, investing in iPhone apps including guides, calculators and books to help its customers and set it apart from the competition.

The business, which started life as a designer of test instruments in the telecoms sector, now focuses on energy monitoring and energy saving sectors.

It has entered the Science and Technology Business Of The Year Award and Think Green Business Of The Year in The Press Business Awards 2010.

The business is continually investing in digital technology and is keen to adopt new technologies, such as its Lighting Energy Controller (LEC). York retailer Pavers Shoes are currently trialling LEC, saving approximately £3,000 and 10,000kg of CO2 per year, and is planning to install LEC in all its shops.

“We have always sought to use technology to provide unique features in our products that are demanded by the customer, such as longer battery life, less space on a desk or accurate simulation of a telephone exchange. This has helped us capture market share from our competitors and see solid sales year on year,” Seggy said.
