GIVING graduates a break is a particularly poignant issue at the moment with so many experienced people on the jobs market.

Creative Protégé, a former runner-up for the Best Employer And Education Link category at The Press Business Awards, has entered again this year to showcase the good work it is doing for graduates. The company was created by sister company, Gloss Creative Recruitment, a recruitment firm for the creative industries, to help creative graduates add the weight of experience to their CVs.

It acts as a virtual agency by providing live briefs from design agencies and companies to the graduate designers, who work voluntarily on the projects in their own time.

Director Ian Rigby said: “As a result of the vast amount of connections we have within the creative industry via Gloss Recruitment – more than 400 design agencies within Yorkshire – and the willingness of those agencies and individuals to join our cause, we have a number of mentors that are committed to helping us develop our young designers.”

It has also been able to help individuals create their own design agencies, such as nugenko.com, which was formed by Creative Protégé graduates.
