PROPERTY consultant Carter Jonas has expanded its York-based energy division with the appointment of senior energy surveyor Deirdre McDonald.
Deirdre, who has expertise in environmental impact assessments and negotiating option and lease arrangements over sites for both landowners and developers, will advise clients on a wide range of energy technologies including commercial scale wind farms, medium turbines, energy from waste, solar power, anaerobic digestion, hydro and biomass.
• ESTATE agent William H Brown has increased its York team, appointing three new members of staff.
Kevin Coundon, who has previously worked for both independent and large corporate agents in and around York and has spent the last 18 months developing William H Brown’s Haxby branch, has taken over as branch manager.
Sarah Stabler has joined as residential sales manager and Carol Newbury has become senior sales negotiator.
Mr Coundon said: “These three new appointments of very experienced, local people reflect the company’s confidence in the York property market. Our recently established lettings department has already proved very successful and we have exciting plans to expand our business both in terms of people and the area we cover.”
• NSA North Sheep has appointed Heather Stoney as assistant organiser of its biennial event NSA North Sheep 2013.
Heather, who lives in Pateley Bridge, near Harrogate, grew up on a family farm in Yorkshire breeding sheep and cattle and showing commercial beef cattle. She worked at the Craven Cattle Marts for eight years before becoming promotions and breed development officer for the LLeyn Sheep Association. NSA North Sheep 2013 will be held on June 5 at Crimple Head Farm, near Harrogate.
• PETER Howard & Co accountants and tax specialists in Wetherby have appointed Justine Stalker as tax director.
Justine, who joins from Ernst and Young, has also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG and qualified as an ACA (Association of Consulting Actuaries) in 2002.
• PROPERTY consultancy Savills has appointed Stuart Jeffries as a director in its rural minerals and waste management team.
Stuart has 22 years experience as a chartered surveyor, specialising in minerals and waste management and is a Member of the Institute of Quarrying (MIQ). He previously worked as a partner at Gerald Eve before setting up Matthews & Son in Harrogate, and is based primarily at Savills in York.
• SUZY Brain England has been appointed the new regional chair for the Yorkshire Institute of Directors (IoD).
The founder of Cloud Talking Mentoring and Counselling is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading non-executive directors, with a strong background in professional development.
She was made an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2009 for her public service, is a Freeman of the City of London and was Midlands Business Woman of the Year 1996.
She is currently an non-executive director of Barnsley Foundation Hospital and Welfare to Work organisation AVANTA and is chair of the board at Berneslai Homes in Barnsley and chair of the board of Derwent Living.
