A YORK city-centre hotel on the banks of the River Ouse has announced the third phase of a long-term investment project.

The Park Inn by Radisson York has already invested millions of pounds in upgrading all 200 guest bedrooms.

The latest redevelopment project is now under way and will see the look and feel of the lobby, bar and meeting spaces transformed.

As part of this £800,000 refurbishment programme, the hotel’s lobby area has been given a more modern look.

The traditional reception desk has been replaced with satellite desks and the lobby has been opened up to maximise the stunning river views.

The hotel’s main entrance has also been refreshed, with a new canopy and lighting used to further enhance the arrival experience for guests.

The interiors have been inspired by the city of York, with the colour tones and materials influenced by York stone and the city’s cobblestones.

Phase three of the works, which is scheduled to complete by the end of March, also includes a revamp of the upstairs bar area and a soft refurbishment of the hotel’s meeting rooms, as well as the installation of a conference café.

Sally Hughes, general manager of the Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre, said: “We’re thrilled with the new-look lobby. The space has been completely transformed.

“It’s modern yet comfortable with a view you just can’t beat.

“It’s very much a work in progress so it’s really a case of watch this space for now, but it is a really exciting project and having seen the plans, I think we’re going to pleasantly surprise one or two people when we reopen the bar – it looks really great.”

The hotel, in a riverside location in North Street, became the Park Inn by Radisson York in 2006 and has since undergone a significant refurbishment programme.

In 2009, 126 guest bedrooms were completely refurbished as part of a £4.8 million investment programme.

In 2011, a further £1.7 million was spent to renovate the remaining 74 bedrooms which completed in May 2012, adding new decor, furniture and soft furnishings in both the bedrooms and bathrooms.
