HOME Farm shop at Beningbrough has won two awards during February.
The shop, run by Lucy and Alistair Jackson, won the Countryside Alliance awards for local food in Yorkshire as well as the national Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA) Rising Star award, which was presented to them by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate last week.
Simon Hamlyn, North of England director for the Countryside Alliance, and one of the judges, said: “The Jackson family have been tenant farmers at Home Farm for 50 years and this really shows in their commitment to providing local produce in their farm shop. All of the beef in the shop is provided from Alistair’s herd of Aberdeen Angus cows, while Alistair’s wife Lucy runs the shop. The shop always looks attractive, with well-planned displays as well as offering fun community-based activities such as the Pudding Club.”
