THE Chartered Institute of Legal Executives is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an open evening on Monday at York Barbican Centre.
The event is aimed at young people who want to enter into a career in law through an apprenticeship model, rather than university, and to promote the status of chartered legal executive lawyers who have been working alongside solicitors and barristers for the last 50 years.
The evening will be hosted by Patricia White, current chair of the local branch.
Diane Burleigh, chief executive and Nick Hanning, president, will also be at the event to discuss the opportunities surrounding the profession, in particular chartered legal executives being able to set up as independent practitioners, in competition with lawyers, as a result of changes in the legal sector.
Email cilexynyb@btinternet.com to register for the free event, which will take place from 6pm to 8pm.
