POTTER Logistics has invested in new fleet to improve its carbon footprint and service its growing transport sector.
The business has bought ten Mercedes Actros 2545 tractor units and a mix of 22 double and single deck trailers.
Nick Brightey, general manager of Potter Logistics’ transport division and York distribution centre, said: “Our transport division has recently shown impressive growth, winning some important new contracts and making it necessary to increase the size of our fleet.
"We will also be updating some of the tractor units at our York distribution centre."
It has also bought two new eco friendly 7.5-tonne lorries, called Fuso Eco Canter Hybrid vehicles, which will be based at Potter’s York distribution centre. They will be used specifically for Palletline operations in and around the city centre.
Mr Brightey added: “The 7.5-tonne vehicles offer us a 23 per cent fuel saving which is not only financially good news for us, but also means that we are considerably reducing our CO2 emissions."
Dave Merrett, City of York's Council's member for transport planning and the environment, said: “It’s great to see a transport and logistics company being forward thinking in considering the impact of their business on the environment.”
