YORK Science Park has welcomed three new start-up businesses to its incubation space, Springboard.
GameSparks, Haider Green and Expresso Investments Limited join existing businesses in the space, which is located in the Ron Cooke Hub at the University of York’s new Heslington East campus.
Springboard provides small businesses with an affordable space in which to develop as well as easier access to the university departments and more established businesses in the Science Park.
The introduction of the new businesses to Springboard comes as current fledgling businesses are developing and moving on.
Tracey Smith, managing director of York Science Park, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome three more entrepreneurial start-up businesses to our exciting incubation space, Springboard.
“From mobile games development and energy consultancy to product design, these diverse businesses will contribute to, and benefit from, the dynamic environment that Springboard offers.”
GameSparks, a platform provider for mobile games, aims to save developers money and make it easier to launch games in a market where “freemium” – when free games charge for advanced features – is frequently utilised.
Expresso Investments Limited is a design company which embraces modern technology. Working in collaboration with others, its innovative designs range from furniture to a safety bracelet for parents of young children.
Haider Green, an energy consultancy and project developer, specialises in energy efficiency, renewables and utility-scale coal-to-biomass conversion.
Managing director of Haider Green, Richard Green, said: “The park has facilities to ensure we remain productive 24/7.
“Access to state-of-the-art communication, meeting and research facilities are what distinguishes York Science Park from other business facilities in the surrounding area.”
