NATIONAL travel brand Jet2Holidays has awarded £2,000 to a York travel agent.
Acomb Travel was invited to enter a competition run by the national company, in which agents across the country were asked to pitch marketing presentations in a Dragons’ Den-style contest.
Judges deemed Acomb Travel’s presentation to be the most inspiring, and awarded the business £2,000 for next year’s marketing budget.
Eric Walton, owner of Acomb Travel, which was founded 37 years ago and has four members of staff, said: “We had to put together a presentation about how we would spend the £2,000, and after winning we now find we are able to put that presentation into practice.
“We are an agent for Jet2Holidays, and have seen sales go up dramatically with them.
“It’s fantastic to have won this award as the prize represents 25 per cent of our marketing budget so to be given such a chunk towards that is a big boost.”
