A CYCLE store is ready to embrace the arrival of the Tour de France in York following a major refit.
The Giant Store, in Lord Mayor’s Walk, is the first of 13 Giant shops in the UK to be updated after partnering with the brand two years ago.
Previously operating as Bob Trotter Cycles, the business is now managed by brother and sister team David Trotter and Nicola Doody, who took over the family business from their father earlier in June.
The third generation bicycle retailers attracted significant investment from partners Giant UK for the refit, which included the installation of new Wattbike Powerfit technology to help customers monitor riding position and power output.
Mr Trotter, store manager, said: “We think 2014 will be a big year for cyclists setting themselves new goals, and as cyclists ourselves we want to be able to help everyone have the most fulfilling experience with the sport.
“PowerFit will transform our ability to do just this, whether that’s by finding the most comfortable riding position or squeezing that crucial extra wattage output by fine-tuning pedalling technique.”
York’s Giant Store refit was also designed to showcase the shop’s commitment to the city’s growing community of female cyclists by creating a brand new dedicated area in store, as well as the addition of soft furnishings where riders on the regular women’s Breeze rides can relax and socialise.
