A BUILDING restoration specialist in York has hailed 2013 a record year for recognition, with 22 national and regional building conservation and apprenticeship awards.
As well as the RIBA Stirling Prize For Architecture, as voted for by BBC TV viewers, William Anelay also collected the RICS national award for Building Conservation for the Florence Institute in Liverpool.
The company has also been commended for the Restoration of a Georgian Building in an Urban Setting for the 107 Great Mersey Street project and featured in the Historic Houses Association Sotheby’s Restoration awards for their work at Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire.
Site manager Gary Shea was named as Restoration Manager of the Year for his work at the Florence Institute and a number of the company’s stonemasons were awarded a craftsmanship team merit award at the York Guild of Building Craftsmanship Awards for their work on the piazza at York Minster.
