A NORTH Yorkshire meat company says its sales have increased by a fifth following last year’s horsemeat scandal.
Yorkshire Dales Meat Company, based in Patrick Brompton, near Bedale, said sales to Asda had risen by 20 per cent. The company supplies burgers, steaks and meatballs to the chain and also provides products to restaurants, pubs, hotels and the events and catering trade.
Horsemeat was discovered in burgers sold by UK supermarkets a year ago this week, with industry experts saying the scandal continues to influence shoppers’ habits.
