A YORK-based shoe retailer has been recognised as the “most admired footwear brand” of India.
Family-run business Pavers Shoes was handed the accolade at the Indian Fashion Forum awards, in Mumbai.
Pavers is the first non-Indian company to be given the prestigious award.
Stuart Paver, managing director of Pavers, said It had been a hard slog for six years, but the company was making huge progress in the world’s second largest country in terms of population.
He said: “The whole team from the UK and India are immensely proud to have won this prestigious award.”
In 2013, the Indian government approved a multi-million pound proposal from Pavers, which made it the first foreign company to set up wholly-owned stores in the country.
