BUSINESSES in East Yorkshire have been invited to roadshows telling them how they can share the benefits of the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire.
The roadshows are being staged by Welcome to Yorkshire and Visit Hull and East Yorkshire ahead of the cycle race’s opening stages, the Grand Départ, being hosted in the White Rose county on July 5 and July 6.
They will be held in Driffield on March 17, The Spa at Bridlington on March 20 and in Goole on April 2, all at 2.30pm, and attendance can be registered at industry.yorkshire.com
Coun Jane Evison, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for economy, investment and inequalities, said: “The East Riding is an area with a great passion for cycling, and the fact Yorkshire is hosting one of the sporting world’s showpiece events is an occasion for the whole county to celebrate.
“The Grand Départ will have untold benefits for tourism and boosting the economy in the East Riding, and the council is encouraging businesses to make every effort to capitalise on this. The roadshows show how they can tap into this and showcase the best of our countryside to the world.”
