COMMERCIAL landlords are being invited to find out about new regulations surrounding the recovery of rent arrears.
From April 6, commercial landlords will no longer be able to seize tenants’ goods without warning to sell and set off against rent arrears.
Distraint is being abolished and replaced with Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery.
Langleys Solicitors in York, is holding a free breakfast briefing tomorrow to inform commercial landlords., letting agents and surveyors of the changes.
Matthew Pugh, head of Property Litigation at Langleys, said: “This will constitute the biggest change for more than three centuries. While landlords will still be able to take control of a tenant’s goods, there are significant changes and disadvantages compared with the old regime.”
The briefing is at York Rugby Club, Shipton Road, from 8.30am to 9.45am.
