A YORK data hosting business has been named as one of the top 50 fastest growing technology companies in the North.
Bytemark Hosting received the accolade at the GP Bullhound Northern Tech Awards 2014.
The 12-year old company, which recently invested £1.2 million in a new datacentre in York, was named alongside other leading northern tech firms at an exclusive awards ceremony held at the Lowry Hotel, during which David Rowan, editor of Wired UK, compered the night.
The Northern Tech Awards are a celebration of top tech entrepreneurship in the north, with the top 50 list decided by an elite panel of judges, most of whom have built and successfully sold their own technology firms.
Bytemark Hosting was the only internet infrastructure company to make the Top 50 list.
Peter Taphouse, co-founder and operations director at Bytemark Hosting said: "Being named one of the Top 50 fastest tech companies in the north is fantastic.
"It is thanks to our loyal customers and dedicated staff, who have helped us grown from just two people to where we are today. It's great to know that our hard work has been recognised."
Judges for the top 50 list included among others Charles Sharland, chairman & co-founder of AppSense, Alan White, former cheif executive of N Brown Group, and David Rasche, founder of SSP and chairman of GB Group.
This is the second award for Bytemark in the last six months, having also been named finalist in the DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards for Innovation in Medium-sized Datacentre in December.
