A LETTINGS agency on the outskirts of York has won the double after scooping two awards for its service to clients.
Bishopthorpe based McCartney Lettings won the accolade of being the ‘Best Managing Agency’ and was runner up in the category of ‘Outstanding Service’ at the Good Landlord Awards.
The competition is an initiative of City of York Council in partnership with Higher York, which represents the four higher education institutions based in the city. The event was sponsored by YorProperty and the York Residential Landlords Association.
The awards are designed to acknowledge the way in which landlords and their agents are going out of their way to give students a positive experience of the local community by helping them settle into life in York.
Gill McCartney, managing partner at McCartney Lettings, said "We really appreciate the acknowledgement of our core values of excellent service and respect for all our clients through the Good Landlord Awards.
"Although the agency is predominantly focussed on the professional sector we are lucky to represent landlords who offer solutions to a range of accommodation needs.
"By treating students with respect we are investing in the professionals of the future many of whom will continue to rent homes in York for many more years to come."
The awards highlight to landlords the value of the student sector, which is of considerable economic significance for the city, with 22,500 undergraduates and post-graduates choosing to study in York generating an estimated annual turnover of £356 million.
