TWO York businesses are joining forces to host a Traineeship Event aimed at promoting employment opportunities for young people in the city’s hospitality sector.
The Hilton York and YH Training Services are working together to give young people, aged 16-24, not in employment, education or training, the chance to learn about opportunities within the hospitality industry.
Grant Norris, of The Hilton, said he wanted to promote the array of jobs in the industry while supporting trainees in developing their skills and understanding of hospitality careers.
On offer at the event is a five-week placement during which trainees can trial the different areas of hospitality, from front-of-house administration or food and beverage service, through to accounts, warehousing, catering or housekeeping.
YH Training Services has more than 30 years experience of work-based learning and will ensure trainees undertake employability skills training, functional maths and English, vocational courses and food hygiene so they can develop and build a strong CV, receive a Hilton-endorsed reference and will have the opportunity to apply for vacancies with The Hilton York alongside any other vacancies.
The event at Hilton York is on Tuesday, from 2pm.
