TWO York College students have been named Apprentices of the Year.
Sally Nelson and Jordan Phillips won the accolade at the York Apprenticeship Graduation in York Minster, where 100 apprentices were also recognised for completing their programmes.
Sally was recognised in the Over 25s category for completing her placement as an electrician with Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, while Jordan took the 16-to-24 title for completing the electrical and mechanical engineering placement with Nestle.
Councillor Janet Looker said: "I would like to congratulate all graduates and award-winners.
"Efforts to celebrate the work of young people in apprenticeships are crucial for us as a city and this event is part of York’s commitment to support the growth of apprenticeships in York with businesses, young people and training providers."
Sally said: "I knew I had been nominated but didn't expect to win. I felt very proud, especially as both my children were in the Minster to see me presented with the award."
