FOLLOWING its successful support of the UK leg of this year's Tour de France a North Yorkshire video transmission specialist has been invited to showcase its products to French security forces.

Thirsk-based Vemotion will today be demonstrating its technology at the British Ambassador’s residence in Paris as part of an event organised by the UK Trade & Investment and Defence and Security Organisation team in France.

Vemotion's technology delivers live CCTV footage from remote locations, allowing CCTV cameras to be set up in isolated areas and transmit images back to a command centre anywhere in the world.

For Vemotion, which is one of 25 companies invited to the event, this builds on its attendance at the international security exhibition Milipol in Qatar last month.

Vemotion chief executive Stewart McCone said: "The Vemotion team is proud to have been invited to this event and we are very much looking forward to giving a practical demonstration of Vemotion’s capabilities to attendees.

"While much of our work is focused on civilian markets, our technology has obvious military and security applications."

The event builds on Vemotion’s existing relationship with the French Gendarmerie.

Mr McCone added: "It is all frenetic at the moment but very positive news for Vemotion and UK business in general.

"It’s too easy to forget the UK leads the field in many areas of technology and we are very proud to be flying the flag for the best of British technology and innovation overseas."

As well as supporting French security forces during the UK leg of the Tour de France, Vemotion has assisted police chiefs in making informed decisions using live video during everything from G20 Summits and D-Day Celebrations to the 2014 Commonwealth games.
