STAFF at a York pub have celebrated winning a prestigious dining award.
The Lamb & Lion Inn in High Petergate underwent a huge renovation and investment in October 2010, and was this month awarded two AA rosettes.
The rosettes are awarded by the AA, with about 40 per cent of restaurants and hotels in the organisation's guide having two - which represents "excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency".
Jakub Wankowicz, general manager of the Lamb & Lion, said the award recognised the effort staff put in at the venue.
He said: "We're tremendously proud that the Lamb & Lion Inn has been awarded two AA Rosettes.
"We are the first and so far, the only Inn in York to have been awarded such status and feel that this award provides the appropriate recognition for the improvements we have made to our food."
Mr Wankowicz said the changes to the food meant it was "simply presented" and represents "uncomplicated combinations, clean flavours and accurate cooking", which he knows has been enjoyed by local residents and tourists.
