CORPORATE dreams wake up to reality here. A two-day event aimed at helping budding entrepreneurs to find a practical route to their ambitions takes place at the Museum Gardens, in York, starting on Saturday, May 12.
In one giant marquee, the dreamers can meet a huge range of professionals and organisations who can help them every step of the way.
The Enterprise Show 2007, funded by the regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward and organised by Business Link York and North Yorkshire is held annually in four cities around the region.
The others are Leeds, Hull and Sheffield.
Last year, more than 700 converged on the York event and organisers are hoping to hit the 900 mark this time.
Business Link, which monitored the progress of inquiries last May found that 40 per cent subsequently set up in business.
John Shepherd, head of marketing and customer Services for Business Link York and North Yorkshire said: "Our theme is 'Don't Just Dream it - Do It!' and so our ambition is to make that dream come true - to go beyond the planning stage and actually make that leap of faith.
"Economies are built on entrepreneurial spirit. Little acorns often become mighty oaks and generate jobs, prosperity and happiness."
There will be a number of zones. In zone one, the needs of visitors are identified along with suggestions about which sources of help they should access on the day.
Zone two offers practical help and objective advice on the steps to building a strong business plan. Helping them will be bankers, solicitors, accountants and tax men among 40 different advisers.
Zone three is the "information gateway" where expert advisers help people to access detailed information about the sectors the rookies are targeting.
Zone four looks ahead to the hurdles and challenges faced once the venture is up and running - and there will be a chance to meet those who have "been there, done that" - role models in various sectors.
Zone five offers a chance to have a one-to-one chat with an adviser from Business Link, who will guide visitors on how to put what they have learned that weekend into practice by planning the next step.
The event starts at 10am on both days, finishing at 5pm on the Saturday and 4pm on the Sunday.
You can turn up on the day, but you can short-circuit processes by pre-registering.
