Poultry health and welfare will top the agenda at tomorrow evening's meeting of the National Farmers Union's regional poultry board, at the NFU regional office in York.
Guest speaker will be Sara Perez, of York's Minster Veterinary Practice, who will be exploring issues for both egg and broiler producers, looking at e-coli, egg peritonitis, and red mites in the layer sector and wet litter, enteritis and chick quality in the broiler sector.
Louise White, the NFU's senior food and farming adviser, said: "Obviously, with avian influenza continuing to hit the headlines, bird health is of paramount importance throughout the poultry sector.
"Tomorrow's meeting offers members an excellent opportunity to update themselves on the latest veterinary advice."
